The advantages a large SUV protecting its driver is dependent upon the object it impacts. When everyone else is just as selfish as you by driving another large SUV the benefits are cancelled at best and negatively impacted in certain conditions like when 2 large SUVs have a head on collision. I'm not defending our selfish ways and it does need to change however America is slowly discovering that accommodating the most self serving citizens ie neoliberalism, may not actually be good for a society.
