Not only does government shape markets, they choose who gets to play and many times who gets to win. All of the examples I gave earlier show this behavior. If the government did not protect Boeing from competition would the company have taken so much risk? See middle east and Bibi Inc for another example of this phenomenon. So if Boeing and Bibi know the US government will fix whatever they break why would either use restraint. It's not just the economy that is broken in America.
