In your article you stated “The fundamental values of the left are these things. Truth. Beauty. Love. Goodness. Decency. Humanity.” Agreed, however I would add fairness. Specifically fairness in reference as a contrary opinion in conservative thinking which states “Increase your skills and your value will increase.” Here in the US upward mobility is dying rapidly. How many students graduate into an economy that cannot or will not offer economic opportunities even though they played by the rules. The rules do not apply to the average person, more importantly the working average person. This structural economic fact should, in my opinion, be the basis argument for the left because it is inclusive regardless of political belief. It effects the majority of citizens. America has been stretching the myth of the American dream for decades. “If you make a better mouse trap you can get rich in America.” Not now because the rats are running the show.
