Execution is Everything

Like many I am looking towards tomorrow and hoping for a better future and looking for signs that others feel the same. Being involved with a startup I have been working on for some time that has the potential to make a positive impact on our future I pay particular attention to the startup community.

What I am hearing now is many in the wealth class declaring that we need to change, meaning them, and adjust the way to invest and change their priorities from solely focusing on short term profit and focus on what investment provides to society in addition to earnings. This sounds nice but I am skeptical at best.

To quote a common phrase in the startup community heard muttered by investors, “Ideas can be great but execution is everything.” So in other words how will you implement your idea? I bring this up because this is my question to those declaring to change the world by changing their investment strategy to reflect both profit and social good. To many this sounds new but it is not. It is called impact investing, double bottom line or social investment. So again I will ask those investors declaring to change the world how will you execute your desire to change the world through investment. What are you looking for, what is important to you, what problem do you want to fix? Will you do your own research? Will you find a problem to focus on and seek out entrepreneurs with potential solutions? Will you be available to hear ideas or will you be unreachable?
