Conservative Christians are their own worst enemy. I am fairly libertarian regarding peoples personal lives, so I do not take interest in what others do. However these "moral leaders" draw so much attention to their grievances it forces people who just want to live their lives to start to pay attention. And when those people begin to pay attention they get angered and take opposition to not only the grievance itself but all the "moral leaders". I feel like I am back in high school doing whatever it took to piss off the busy little rumor bees buzzing around the student body taking the opposite position to them whether I understood the position or not. If it pissed them off I was all in. Why are the dumbest people in any group the most zealot members?
